Maynard Lee Holmes, 49, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2016 surrounded by his loving family and life-long friends due to complications of heart failure. He was born on September 21, 1966 in Toledo to Maynard and Shirley Holmes. Lee was an Elevator Technician and Constructor for I.U.E.C. Local #44, retiring in 2013 due to illness. He was a born and raised, proud eastsider. He couldn’t go anywhere without knowing someone. Lee was known for his big smile, laugh and sense of humor. He was the life of the party and a fun loving guy. Lee loved classical cars, muscle cars and drag racing. He will be dearly missed.
Lee is survived by his wife, Christine Holmes-Wolf; children, Nicholas, Garrett and his little baby doll, Mariana; siblings, Julie Naiber and Charles Holmes; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Philip and Shirley Hoffer and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, John Naiber.
A memorial gathering will be held at the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd, Oregon, on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 from 2-6 p.m. where a memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. A celebration of life and luncheon will be held following at Christ Dunberger Hall. Please come and have a drink in his memory. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for Maynard’s children c/o Nicholas Holmes.
