Matthew W. Contos, age 49, of Oregon, Ohio was welcomed into Heaven on Sunday, August 28, 2016. He was born June 24, 1967 to his loving parents, Albert “Bill” and Karen (Bisel) Contos in Oregon, Ohio. Matt graduated from Libbey High School in 1987. He had a 15 year career with Bob Evans in Northwood, Ohio where he enjoyed making friends with co-workers and patrons. Throughout his youth, he loved spending summer weekends at his family cottage on Lake Erie. He was a master at conquering any video game he played. He was passionate about geography and meteorology and could get you to any destination and give you the forecast for your trip. A lifelong Buckeyes fan, Matt was a loyal son, brother, nephew, and uncle who never missed a holiday or gathering.
Left to cherish his memory are his mom and dad, brothers Mark and Billy, and sister Chris. He will also be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Waiting to welcome him into Heaven are his grandparents, Al and Hazel Contos, and Don and Helen Bisel.
Matt's family would like to extend a special thank you to all of his caregivers at Supportive Living, Luther Home of Mercy, and Emmaus Community Center.
Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd, Oregon, on Thursday, September 1, 2016 from 2-8 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday at the St. Ignatius Catholic Church at 10 a.m. where family will greet guests after 9 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Luther Home of Mercy.
