Mary Cluckey

May 17, 1940 — June 6, 2024

Cherished wife, mother, and grandmother Mary Elizabeth Cluckey, 84, passed away peacefully in Oregon, OH at St. Charles Mercy Hospital on June 6th, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.  Mary was born the youngest of four siblings in Bono, Ohio on May 17th, 1940 to William and Irene Hartenfeld in the house where she was proud to reside until her death. She met the love of her life, Allen Blair Cluckey in Bono Ohio as a child, and fell in love as a young teenager.  They were married on January 25th, 1958. They remained lifelong sweethearts until he preceded her in death in 2020.  Mary attended Clay High School from 1955-1958, later going on to get her GED. She worked at Jacks Superette and Oregon City Schools, finishing her career at Jerusalem Elementary School which she attended as a child. She was a lifelong member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.

Mary will first and foremost be forever remembered by the love she had for her family. Whether it was the tender way she cared for her aging mother, her enjoyment of sewing for her children and grandchildren, making sure her children’s and grandchildren’s homes were filled with the
scent of her homemade cinnamon rolls every Christmas, or the simple tradition of Tuesday morning donuts, caring for her family was her greatest joy. She also treasured her daily walks and drive through Maumee Bay State Park with her husband at her side.

Mary is survived by her four children, Jeffrey (Penny Gill) Cluckey, Mary Sue (Mark) Buehler, Thomas (Cindy) Cluckey, and Angie (Rusty) Fisher; sixteen grandchildren, Rachel (Tom Baker) Losie, Jaime (Robert) McDougall, Amanda (Christopher) Ackerman, Dr. Mark (Deanna) Buehler,
Dr. Jason (Katie) Buehler, Jeffrey (Katie) Cluckey, Kayla (Tony) Caligiuri, Whitney (Caleb) Reighard, Tiffany Cluckey, Justin Cluckey, Alexandria (Alex) Morlock, Brett (Rachel) Fisher, Logan Cluckey, Thomas Cluckey, and Cole Fisher; 35 (with one on the way) great-grandchildren, 4 great great-grandchildren, sister, Shirley Shutt and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, sisters Evelyn Romstadt and Arlene Kohlman, grandson Charles VanDyke, and great-grandsons, Ethan Reighard and Rio Carrington.

Friends will be received, Tuesday, June 11th, 2024 from 2-8 p.m. at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd. Oregon, Ohio 43616 (419-693-9304).
