Husband, father, grandfather and friend Mark Joseph Reeves entered fully into the presence of the Lord on Wednesday, February 22, 2023. He was born on March 24, 1958 in Toledo, Ohio to Joseph and Marilyn (McEwen) Reeves.
Mark never met a stranger, and he would make friends with anyone – a new mother in a Mexican village or a business owner in Oregon, Ohio. He would raise funds for your spaghetti dinner, help you find someone to fix your car, and smoke you a pig, all in the same day. He led many short-term mission trips to Mexicali, Mexico for youth groups throughout the greater area. Even though he could not speak the language he formed life-long friendships. He was the consummate salesman and we suspected he could sell ice cubes to Eskimos.
Mark had an unusual gift. He loved people hard and wanted you to know how much he valued you. He had a very big heart and always tried to make sure everyone was included. He was glad to belong and contribute to the bigger and more important things in life. Even when hampered by poor health, he kept building others up. His sense of humor was an integral part of him…even when he wasn’t funny. The world will miss his kindness, love of sports, love of God and his church The Rock, and love for his wife Diane and his family.
He is survived by his wife, Diane, his children and stepchildren Beth Lemon, Michael (Angie) Whitty, Rachael Hower, and Benjamin (Denise) Whitty; His 6 grandchildren: Kayla, Ryan, Jack, Bailey, Asher and Charlotte. Also survived by his mother Marilyn Reeves, brother David Reeves, sisters: Deanne (James) Batterson, and Lisa (Roger) Baranovic, and many nieces and nephews
We were not ready for his passing, but we celebrate his life knowing his Christian faith was an essential part of his life and sustained him through life’s ups and downs. It was the source of his hope and the reason he wanted all of us to rejoice at this time.
