Mark D. Contos

December 22, 1961 — September 15, 2021

Mark Donald Contos, age 59, of Toledo, passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2021. Born December 22, 1961, to Karen and Bill Contos, Mark was a student at Waite High School, and a skilled machinist for 43 years, starting at the age of 16 when he went to work at his grandfather’s machine shop, D.L. Bisel Machine Shop.

Mark was a kind and helpful person who was the first to lend a hand when needed. A Nascar fan, he loved owning fast cars of his own, with a passion for fixing and restoring the classics. His most recent labor of love was his 1978 Crown Victoria. When he wasn’t fixing cars, he enjoyed spending his Saturdays rooting for the Wolverines.

Mark is survived by his parents; his brother, Bill Contos; his sister Chris (Ted) Keil; his three daughters, Jamie (Nick) Oancea, Dana (Ryan Proshek) Contos, and Kristin (Chad) Thielen. He was a proud “Papa Mark: to his nine grandchildren, Alexis, Zachary, Alexander, Kenzi, Kali, Sebastian, Caleb, Rylli, and Dominic. He will also be missed by his Aunt Sue Ann, Uncle Dick, cousins, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Matt.

Visitation will be held Monday, September 20th, at Freck Funeral Chapel in Oregon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with service and burial to follow.

“Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.”
