MARIANN R. (MENDEN) YOUNKER
Mariann R. Younker, 62, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Mercy-St. Charles Hospital. She was born on March 28, 1951 in Toledo to Richard and Theresa (Toth) Menden and was a 1970 graduate of Cardinal Stritch High School. For 28 years, Mariann worked as a Phlebotomist beginning her career at Riverside Hospital and then continuing on with Mercy-St. Anne Hospital until her health declined.
Mariann was a gifted individual who enjoyed cooking, tending to her beautiful gardens, caring for her sweet Daschund companion, Shania, feeding the neighborhood birds and cross-stitching many quilts for her beloved family members and friends. She had a tender heart for watching children especially her nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Kenneth Younker; brother, Thomas (Sylvia) Menden; sister-in-law, Carol (Jerry) Hardacre; 6 nieces and nephews and 18 great-nieces and great-nephews along with her uncle, John Menden and many dear cousins. Mariann was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother, Richard Menden, Jr.
Family and friends may visit from 2-8 p.m. in the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Sunday, February 2, 2014. Prayers will be recited in the funeral home at Noon on Monday with the Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 1:00 p.m. at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Shahadeh, the ICU staff at St. Charles Hospital and all the staff at the St. Charles Cancer Center.
