Margaret C. (Winhoven) Cousino

February 12, 1920 — February 28, 2016

Margaret Catherine (Winhoven) Cousino, age 96, of Oregon, passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, February 28th, 2016. She was born February 12, 1920 to Herbert and Catherine (McHugh) Winhoven in Burkettsville, Ohio. She married James Bernard Cousino May 11, 1946.  Margaret worked at Autolite plant making dashboards and car parts for World War II before continuing her career as a bus driver. She was inspired by her daughter, Kathleen who has Down syndrome. Margaret drove bus for the Lucas County Board of Mental Disabilities starting in 1961 and retiring in 1991.

She had a green thumb and was always in the garden, giant tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers flowed from her hands. Margaret had a quit wit, a positive attitude and was always telling stories to keep her children entertained. Her latest hobby was coloring and her beautiful artwork is hanging in her family's homes. She was under the loving care of her daughter, Bette Ann whom she has lived with for the past 8 years.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Kathleen Cousino, Bette Ann Cutcher, Cindy (Steve) Youngblood, and Robert (Kaye) Cousino; her grandchildren, Eddie (Monica Diaz) Cutcher, Bryan (Tiffany Zemski) Cutcher, Cody (Jessica) Youngblood, Allison Youngblood and Melissa Breier; and great grandchildren, Eddie Cutcher Jr., Presleigh Cutcher, Paxton Cutcher, and Lucille Youngblood. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James (Casey) Bernard Cousino of 37 years; parents Herbert and Catherine; siblings, James “Jim” Winhoven, John Winhoven, Tom Winhoven, Mary Jane (Winhoven) and Herbert Winhoven and son-in-law, Ed Cutcher.

A memorial gathering will be held at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd, Oregon, on Thursday, March 3, 2016 from 2-4 p.m.  Private burial will take place at North Oregon Cemetery. A special thank you to Dr. Maly, Dr. Al Khalili and Dr. Bomanna for the wonderful care they have given our mother over the years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests making a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project.
