Louis William Menke, age 83, of Oregon, Ohio passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at Gardens of St. Francis. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on January 21, 1941, to Edward and Marie (Hartman) Menke. Louis was a 1959 graduate of Rogers High School and served in the United States Army, during the Vietnam War. Louis worked for Champion Spark Plug, Automatic Handling, and Bunting Bearings as a machine operator, retiring after 30 years of service. He was a devoted catholic and a member of St. Clement Catholic Church. Louis also was a member of the VFW-Point Place. In his spare time, Louis enjoyed woodworking and fishing. He will be dearly missed.
Louis is survived by his children, Darin (Dawn) Menke, Roberta (Daniel) Hanudel, and Kevin (Cindy) Menke; grandchildren, Hunter (Sydney) Menke, Justin (Vanessa) Carr, Jake Carr, Hanna Carr, Brittany Bailey, Nicholas (Whitney) Menke, Curtis (Chelsea) Menke, and Jackie (Jason) Turner; several great-grandchildren; and siblings, Donald Menke, Robert, Karl “Joe” Menke, and Mary Shook, and his nephew, Steven Menke. Louis was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joan, and his sisters, Kathleen Menke and Ruthann Sullings.
Family and friends may visit the Gardens of St. Francis, 930 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Monday, December 23, 2024, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. where the funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Gardens of St. Francis or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
