Louis Joseph Alvarado, 94, of Oregon, OH, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was born August 16, 1927 in Toledo, OH to Felipe and Serafina (Herrera) Alvarado. He was an East Toledo resident all his life, until moving to Oregon later to live with his daughter, Susie, who cared for him many years until he passed.  Louis attended Waite High School. He enlisted in the Army and served his country in WW II serving in the Philippine’s. When he was discharged home, he returned to Willy’s Overland Jeep which he had started working at when he was only 16 years old and worked at the plant until retirement. He was a parishioner at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church for many years. In his retirement years Louis loved to spend his days reading the newspaper, watching TV, drinking his coffee, eating toast and playing with the family cats and spending time with his family. Louis loved animals. He was a loving generous kind and hardworking family man. His greatest joy was his family and always put them first making sure they were taken care of in the present and in the future. Louis was known for always being a sharp dresser and his love of tabasco sauce which he always carried with him in his coat pocket just in case. He would tell his many war stories to his family and friends over the years and they will be missed.

Louis leaves behind his children, Laurie “Lorraine” (Rick) Alvarado -Crapsey and Suzanne Alvarado; his grandchildren, Marie Fuller and Michael (Julie) Crapsey Jr; his great-grandchildren, Vincent, Logan, Lola, Keeley, and Gabby; his special friend, Carol ( MaMa) who he watched over to make sure she was comfortable and well; and his siblings, Josefina (Delbert) Smith and David (Brenda) Alvarado. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Phillip, Susie, Mary, Manuel, Sally, and Joseph.

A memorial service will be celebrated in the near future.  Memorial contributions in his name may be made to Humane Ohio or a veteran’s service organization.
