Leon S. "Mitch" Mitchell

March 30, 1943 — August 20, 2015

Leon Stanley “Mitch” Mitchell, 72, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Ebeid Hospice. He was born on March 30, 1943 in Toledo, OH to Leo and Thelma (Lowry) Mitchell and served his country in the U.S. Army, 101st Airborne Division. Mitch was a 32nd degree Mason with Barton Smith Lodge #0613 and was a past officer and lifetime member of River View Yacht Club. He was also a member of Outings and American Legion Post #0110. He retired from the Ford Maumee Stamping Plant in 2003 where he was a Leader Millwright.

Mitch is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Sandra (Apanites) Mitchell; brother, Joseph (Teri) Mitchell, Sylvania, OH; son, Robert, Toledo, OH; daughter, Christina, Sandusky, OH, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Mitchell and sister, Geri Allen.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd, Oregon, on Monday, August 24, 2015 from 2 to 8 p.m. where R.V.Y.C. service will take place a 7 p.m.  Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be private. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Wounded Warriors Project, Ebeid Hospice or the Shriners Hospital for Children.
