Leon Thomas Maix

Leon T. Maix, age 85, of Oregon, Ohio passed away on Friday, December 30, 2022 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Toledo Center.  He was born on November 15, 1937 in Toledo, Ohio to Theodore and Freda Maix.  Leon was a graduate of Macomber High School and went on to serve as an MP in the U.S. Air Force.  In 1966 he began his career at LO.F.  working as a security guard, eventually retiring in 1996 after 30 years.  Leon continued to work during retirement for Gladiuex Home Center in Oregon.  He loved helping customers find what they needed and giving tips on how to fix things.  Leon enjoyed spending time with his exotic birds, crafts, and doing carpentry work.  He will be dearly missed.

Leon is survived by his children:  David Maix, Tina (Craig) Scott, Tonya (Randy) Maix-Carstensen and Norman “Rocky” Maix; grandchildren:  Danny (Lori) Maix II, Desiree’ (Milan Voska) Maix, Corey Dombrowsky, Ron Dombrowsky, David (Jessica) Maix, Bill Maix, Scott (Pam) Limpf, Tony (Lynsey) Scott, Jim (Katie) Scott, Ashley (Luis) Sagrero, Lindsey (Tommy) Ankney, Kayla (Charlie) Krotzer, and Kelsey Miller; 25 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Barb Maix, and his grand dogs, Sly, Cadbury, and Walleee.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; son, Daniel Maix; sisters, Elvira Maix and Donna Gomoll, and daughter-in-law, Michelle Maix.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Thursday, January 5, 2023 from 12:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. where services will follow at 4:00 p.m.  Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio 800 S. Detroit Ave Toledo, Ohio 43609.
