Lawrence "Larry" Sass

Larry Sass, age 82, of Curtice, Ohio passed away on Friday, February 3, 2023 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Toledo Center.  He was born on November 16, 1940 in Toledo, Ohio to Clarence and Daisy Sass.  Larry was a 1958 graduate of Burnham High School and served in the U.S. Army Reserves.  He started working at the Dana Corporation, which lasted 20 years, before taking a job with Brush Wellman Inc.  He worked there as a furnace operator retiring in 2021 after 25 years of service.

Larry enjoyed boating, woodworking, and tinkering around the house, mostly on old wooden boats.  He was a member of the Cooley Canal Yacht Club.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Lynn Sass; son, Jonathon “Scott” (Melanie Riebe) Sass; daughter, Sandy (Troy) Anthony ; grandchildren, Deric Anthony, Cole Anthony, Dana Sass, and Matthew Sass; daughter-in-law, Susan Sass; sisters, Judy Sanders, and Pat Hunt and close family friends, Dawn (Joe, Jr.) Rodriguez, Heaven-leigh Rodriguez and all his lifelong friends in Reno Beach.  He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Lt. Col. Nicholas J. Sass, U.S. Marine Corps retired, brother, David Sass; and sister, Sharon Aller.

A celebration of life will be held for Larry on Sunday, February 12, 2023 from 11:00 -1:00 p.m. at the Cooley Canal Yacht Club, 12235 Bono Rd, Curtice, OH 43412.  Memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
