Lawrence R. “Larry” Quinn

August 28, 1938 - September 29, 2016

Lawrence R. Quinn died peacefully at Swan Creek Retirement Village on September 29, 2016, at the age of 78. Larry was born in Toledo, Ohio, on August 28, 1938, the son of Lawrence Quinn and Margaret (Gribben) Quinn.

Larry was a proud 1956 graduate of Bedford (Michigan) High School. Larry was originally employed by the Jeep Corporation and later retired from Norfolk-Southern Railroad as a dispatcher for over twenty-five years.  Larry volunteered for many years as an aid at Flower Hospital. Larry was a long-time member of St. Clements Catholic Parish where he and his late wife, Judy, were devoted to saying the Rosary every Wednesday night.

Larry is survived by his daughter Roberta (Dale) Kitchen and four grandsons: Tyler, Kyle, Troy (Megan) and Bryan with one great-granddaughter Mackenzie. Larry is also survived by his sisters Rachel (Clifford) Renn and Wanda (Joe) Fosgate, as well as many nieces and nephews. Larry is also survived by his special sister-in-law Linda (Bill) Kepp and cousin Sharon Lanz. He was predeceased by his sisters JoAnn Marsh, Betty Haman and Georgia Taylor and his brother James Quinn, as well as his son Kevin Quinn.

Larry will be deeply missed by his loving family; he was a proud grandfather. He was a quiet and pensive man, but always with an observant demeanor. Larry’s dry wit and sense of humor were always appreciated by all who knew him. Larry and Judy often enjoyed traveling and dining out, as well as listening to good music. Larry also enjoyed playing golf at Bayview Retiree Golf Course with his brother-in-laws Cliff Renn or John Sigurdson.

A memorial visitation will be held at Freck Funeral Chapel in Oregon, Ohio, on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, beginning at 9:00 am with a service at 11:00 am and a luncheon to follow. Burial will be private at Restlawn Memorial Park. The family would like to give their gratitude to all of the staff at Swan Creek Retirement Village and Senior Independence Hospice for the special care and compassion bestowed upon Larry. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, friends can make donations in Larry’s name to Swan Creek Retirement Village or Senior Independence Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choice.
