Julia Wolfe

Julia Wolfe, age 94, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at the Merit House of Toledo.  She was born on May 3, 1928 in Adena, Ohio to Stephen and Mary Knurowski. As a teenager, she moved to Saddle Brook, NJ, and graduated in 1946 from Garfield High School.  She worked at various places over the years, including The Pacific Finance Company, Oregon Board of Education, and Lane Drug Store.  Julia loved to bake and was especially talented a making pies and cakes.  She took a cake decorating class with her aunt Helen and they started a small business making cakes and Panoramic Eggs for people throughout the years. Julia had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to tell jokes.  She also taught ballroom dancing and volunteered with the mother’s club at Coy Elementary and Gable Estates Nursing Home, where she enjoyed painting the patient’s nails.  Julia was fond of animals and had many cats and dogs over the years.  She will be dearly missed by her family.

Julia is survived by her daughters, Heather Wolfe, and Holly Schenk; grandchildren, Eric (Chelsea) Macek, Angela Macek, David (Emily) Schenk, and Elizabeth (Corey) Schenk; great-grandchildren, Lilliana, Kinsley, River, Mia, Peyton, and Ethan; her sister-in-law, Alice Knurowski, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Elizabeth Uhlik, Genevieve Szczech, Custer Knurowski, and Helen Knurowski and her extended family, Louis and Helen Nagy and William and Patricia Nagy.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, from 3:00-7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 4605 St. Anthony Road Temperance, Michigan 48182 where the family will receive guests after 12:00 p.m.  Burial will follow at Lake Twp. Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Toledo Humane Society and Natures Nursery.
