A Toledo native she graduated from Whitmer High School with the class of 1978. She was the fourth of five children born to Nicholas and Norma Mihailoff. Perhaps because she was one of the youngest she always had a strong will and great sense of humor. Her sense of humor even took her and her two daughters to clown college in 2006. She also worked for the U.S. Post Office as a mail carrier for 6 years.
Her favorite pastime was fishing with her beloved husband, Mark. When she was well they would go out on Lake Erie every minute they could steal away. She got to be very good at fishing and would try to share her daily catch with everyone she met. She had an award winning year in 2012 when she caught an astounding 1275 fish. That year she was also awarded a Fish Ohio for catching a 26 inch Freshwater Drum. Her favorite memories are on the water catching perch and sunbathing.
Joyce was preceeded in death by her father Nicholas Mihailoff and sister Linda. She is survived by her mother, Norma Mihailoff (Weidman), husband, Mark, children John Gage (Kristie), Angela Hooson (Jason), and Ashley Gage (Mark) and grandchildren Nicholas, Ava and Alex.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday August 27 at Freck Funeral Chapel at 1155 S Wynn Rd. Oregon, Oh 43616. The showing will be held from 10am-2pm with services to follow.
