Josephine (Thomas) Petro

Josephine “Josie” Petro, 88, of Oregon passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2022.  She was the widow of Andrew Petro Sr. who passed away on March 12, 1976.  She was born on March 20, 1933 to Carl and Jeanette (Leotino) Thomas.  Josie worked for Lanes/People Drug Store and the East Center for Community Mental Health, INC.  Josephine was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church.  Josie had many talents, she was a wonderful cook, making Italian and Hungarian ethnic foods.  She was skilled at crocheting, and a one of kind socialite.  Josie loved her lotto scratch off tickets and was the rock of our family.  Keeping in touch with her grandchildren on snapchat brought her so much happiness.

Surviving are her sons, Andrew (Diane) Petro Jr. and Steven (Rebecca) Petro, daughters, Karen (Mitchel) Biller, Barbara Petro, and Donna (Robert) Sinift; the biggest joy in her life, 12 loving grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Andrew Petro Sr., brothers, Joseph (Bernadette) Thomas, Thomas (Rose) Thomas, and William (Ruth) Thomas; sisters, Margret (Raymond) Chicoline, Jackie (George) DeSantis.  Remember me with smiles and laughter for I am with God and Dad.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Thursday, January 13, 2022, from 3-8:00 p.m.  The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 300 Warner Street in Walbridge where family will greet guests after 9:00 a.m.  Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made to St Jerome Catholic Church.
