Joseph "Joe" Vasko, Jr.

Joseph J. Vasko, Jr., age 73, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at home surrounded by family. He was born on September 14, 1951 in Toledo, Ohio to Joseph and Mary Fern (Sizemore) Vasko. Joe attended Cardinal Stritch High School before graduating from Waite High School in 1969. He started working right out of high school. Employed by Conrail Railroad, he worked as an engineer from 1969-1984. Joe was a talented handy man and could fix anything in the house. While living in Florida he worked in Home building, finish carpentry and patios and decks. Mainly enjoying time on his favorite spot on Hollywood Beach. 

Joe was a talented artist, from detailed sketches, caricatures to wonderful oil paintings particularly faces. Joe excelled in photography, pursued his love of music, and took pride every year in his vegetable garden. He was an extreme animal lover. He especially loved his Siberian Huskies, and one was always at his side. According to his sister, Joe was a unique character who was gregarious and loved engaging in conversations with most anyone. He loved to make people feel good. He will be dearly missed. When Parkinson’s limited his ability to draw, he became an expert at being creative on his computer. 

Joe is survived by his Mother, Mary Fern Vasko; sister, Susan Vasko; many very special friends, both old and new who helped and assisted during this difficult time. Also survived by his many wonderful cousins and his constant companion Wylie. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph J. Vasko, Sr. his many Aunts, Uncles and Grandparents. 

A memorial gathering will be held at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Saturday, December 21, 2024, from 1-3:00 p.m. where memorial service will take place at 3:00 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the family.
