Joseph Richard Nonis

Joseph (Teto) Nonis, 95, of Oregon, Ohio passed away August 15, 2020 at home.  He was born February 8, 1925 in Toledo, Ohio to Dominick and Margaret (Gibbons) Nonis.  He played football for Waite High School where they earned a state championship title.  He followed in his father’s footsteps as Chief Melter for Unicast in Toledo, until his retirement in 1985.  Joseph was a lifelong member of Cooley Canal Yacht Club and loved the open waters.  He is survived by his wife, Janet; children Florine Terry (David), Ned (Roseann), grandchildren Lynnette (John), Laurie, Ned Jr. (Kathy), Daniel (Ryanne), David (Candice); numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Florine. Family and friends may visit Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd Oregon, OH 43616 on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m with a Cooley Canal Yacht Club service at 7:00 p.m.  The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Walbridge, Ohio on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow at Lake Township Cemetery.  Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
