Joseph Albert Mercer, 30, of Oregon, passed away at Hospice of NW Ohio in Perrysburg on Monday, January 2, 2012. Joe was born to Greg and Jacqueline (Ettl) Mercer on February 26, 1981 in Oregon, Ohio. He was a graduate of Clay High School, where he spent time enjoying FFA and Limelighters. Joe was comfortable conversing with anyone he met, being friendly and outgoing. He was an avid reader, loved movies, playing RPGs and Hackeysack. The most recent highlight in Joe’s life was meeting his first nephew, Hudson Mercer.
Joe is survived by his parents; children, Crimson Gail Mercer, Kandron Bane Mercer and Kandron’s half-sister, Keyrston; brother, Allen (Valerie) Mercer; grandmother, Gladys Hirth; uncles and aunts, Albert (Skeet) Mercer, Sue (Ken) Zeh, Pat Dodsworth, Judy (Mike) Hoeflinger, Connie (Harold) Bailey, Bob (Dee) Ettl and many loved cousins. Also surviving is his best friend, Duncan Stoker. Joe was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph “Gene”Jr. and Chloie Ettl, Larry Hirth and Donald “Snook” Mercer and uncle, Mike Roop.
Friends may visit Freck Funeral Chapel Wynn at Pickle Rd. (419) 693-9304, Thursday, January 5, 2012 from 2-8 p.m. Burial will be private. A Celebration of Joe’s life will be held Saturday, January 7th at the Jerusalem TWP Fire Hall, 9501 Jerusalem Rd., Curtice, OH. from 2-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
