Joseph John (Papa Joe) Lazur

April 27, 1949 — March 3, 2021

Joseph Lazur age 71, of Northwood formerly of Oregon, passed away at Bay Park Community Hospital on Wednesday, March 3, 2021. Joseph was born to Emery J. and Ethel A. (Kerekgyarto) Lazur on April 27, 1949, in Oregon, Ohio. Joe graduated from Clay High School in 1967 and went on to work for the then LOF. He retired as the shipping dock coordinator after 39 years of service in 2007. Joe was active as an Umpire at the Oregon Rec for over 30 years. He umpired both baseball and softball. Joe loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events, he was affectionately called “Papa Joe” by many. Joe enjoyed watching The Ohio State Buckeyes, Detroit Lions, and Tigers and kept up with Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy nightly.

Joe is survived by his daughters Laura (Pete) Meyer and Melissa (Jeremy) Zink; grandchildren Kirsten Zink, Brendan Zink, Macy Stuller, and Lexie Stuller; brothers Ronald Lazur and Edward (Mary Jo) Lazur and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Virginia in 2020, brother James, mother-in-law Frances Halpin and brother-in-law Jerome Halpin.

A visitation will be held at Freck Funeral Chapel on Saturday, March 6, 2021, from 4:30 until 9 p.m. The Parastas will be recited at 6 p.m.
