Joseph L. Kochanski, 85, of Oregon, Ohio passed away on Monday, March 3, 2014 at Bay Park Community Hospital. He was born in Rossford, Ohio to John and Eva Kochanski. Joe served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War in the 1st Anglico Fleet Marine Force until 1952. He worked as a Booker for L.O.F. for 40 years, retiring in 1986. Joe was a member of the V.F.W. Post # 9963 in Walbridge, North Toledo Sportsman Club and the Lake Erie Water Fowlers. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing softball and volleyball at the East Toledo Family Center.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Anna “Bonnie”; son, Jeffery (Sue) Mahnen; daughter-in-law, Linda Kochanski; grandchildren: Phillip Kochanski, Jr., Robert Kochanski, Joseph Kochanski,, Chris Mahnen and Mark Mahnen; 7 great-grandchildren and his sister, Carolyn (Roger) Moore. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Phillip; 7 sisters and 2 brothers.
There will be no services. Freck Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements. Burial will be held at Lake Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Joseph’s name can be made to East Toledo Family Center.
