Joseph W. Freck Jr.

JOSEPH W. FRECK, JR., age 76, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Holy Family Hospice surrounded by his family.  He was born on December 16, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio to Joseph and Ann Freck.  Joe was a 1964 graduate of Chanel High School and was drafted shortly after, serving in the U.S. Army as a med tech, during the Vietnam War.  Following his time in the service, Joe continued to work in the medical field.  He started his career at Deaconess Hospital as a hospital orderly.  A few years later he finished school becoming a surgical assistant.  Joe worked for over 25 years at Deaconess Hospital until its closing in 1999 and then continued working for St. Vincent Charity Hospital, retiring in 2022.

Joe had a passion for gardening and was often found outdoors working in the yard.  His floral garden landscaping and caring for exotic and unusual flowers, like the orchid and cactus, amongst other plants, surrounded his home both inside and out.  Joe loved to travel with his family, vacationing across the country, from Maine to Alaska. He was always looking for an adventure, whether taking trips with friends to wineries, visiting casinos, or going to Amish Country.  He will be dearly missed.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Jan; children, Joe (Bianca) Freck III, Janel Freck, and Jessica (Shawn) Knipp; grandchildren, Joey, Sarah, Abby, Julianne, Paige, and Sean.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and grandson, Ethan.

Friends may call at the BUSCH FUNERAL HOME, 7501 RIDGE ROAD, PARMA FROM 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM, ON WEDNESDAY, JUNE 14, 2023. The Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 7367 York Rd. Parma, Ohio 44130 on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Please gather directly at church.  Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery.  Although flowers are appreciated, the family suggests contributions to Holy Family Hospice.
