John T. Shuff
John T. Shuff, 82, of Toledo, OH passed away on Friday, May 22, 2015 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Perrysburg Center. He was born on March 2, 1933 in Toledo to Harvey and Goldie Shuff. John was a 1952 graduate of Woodward high school and married Mary Lou on October 18, 1958. He worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal service for 30 years. John started his career delivering mail in Alaska where he received a superior accomplishment award for going beyond the call of duty, during an Alaskan earthquake. He also spent time delivering mail for various stations in the Toledo area, retiring in 1990. John was a member of the Moose Lodge #1534 in Anchorage, AK., Letter carriers union and was a lifelong Democrat.
John is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lou; children: Charles Shuff, Geniece (Jim) Schaber, Celine (Vern) Collins and Gibson (Lorine) Shuff; grandchildren: Candice Gacik, Christian Gacik, Vincent (Violet) Collins, Logan Collins, Nathaniel Shuff and Graham Shuff; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard (Pat) Shuff and William (Dorothy) Shuff; sister, Mary Ellen Simon and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Neil Shuff; grandson, Jacob Collins and siblings, James Shuff, Frank Shuff, Marge Willard, Dorothy Peterson, Robert Shuff and Ruth Kerekgyarto.
Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
