John S. Mezinko Sr.

John S. Mezinko Sr., 92, of Oregon, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at the Sunset Village.  He was born on February 23, 1919 to Steven and Anna Mezinko.  John served in the U.S. Army, during WWII.  He was an electrician for the Jeep Corp. for over 40 years.  John was well known for being a handyman and could build or fix just about anything.  He enjoyed bowling, playing cards and dancing at the Moose Lodge and the Kin-Wa-Low dance hall in his younger years.  He was a member of the Argonne American Legion Post #545, the Moose Lodge and the F.O.E. Aerie #197.
John is survived by his loving family, daughter, Judy (Don) Zbierajewski; daughter-in-law, Deborah Mezinko; grandchildren:  John S. Mezinko III, Jaime Zbierajewski, Jason Mezinko, Kristin Zbierajewski and Jaclyn Mezinko; brothers, George (Nancy) Mezinko Sr. and Vince Mezinko.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Adeline “Lil”; sons, John Jr. and Steven; brothers, Joseph and Steven and sisters, Emily Napierala and Mary Kusz.
Family and friends may visit Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Friday, February 24, 2012 from 2-8 p.m.  Funeral services will begin on Saturday in the funeral home at 9 a.m. and continue on with the Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 10 a.m.  Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Church or to Mercy St. Charles Hospital Foundation.
