John Edward Huntzinger Jr., 74, died Sunday, August 12, 2018 at the Landings of Oregon. He was born January 11, 1944 in Detroit, MI. John was a graduate of Pontiac Central High School and Michigan State University. He retired with 32 years of service as a mechanical engineer from Pilkington LOF. John was a member of Echo Meadows Church of Christ. He enjoyed his family and his grandchildren and trains, model trains, watching trains, riding on trains and reading about trains. Among other interests he loved to travel and has been to more than 25 countries and all 50 states. He was a Pittsburgh Steeler fan, a Detroit Lions fan and enjoyed all Michigan State sports.
John is survived by Joyce his loving wife of 47 years; children John (Caitrin) Huntzinger III, Jan (Andy) Eminger and Julie (Roger) Rigsby; grandchildren Kaitlyn, Kelsey, Elizabeth, Luke, Patrick, Jacob, John IV and Mary Blythe; sister Susan Murray; brothers-in-law Arthur (Cathy) Long and Bob (Laura) Long. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Virginia (Cummings) Huntzinger and brother-in-law Mike Murray.
Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Friday, August 17, 2018, from 3-8 p.m with a funeral service at the funeral home on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made to Northwest Ohio Christian Youth Camp, 8877 South Township Rd., McCuthchenville, OH 44844.
