John Richard Heldt, 62, found eternal peace on the morning of January 5, 2013. Born September 23, 1950 to Loren and Marjorie Heldt, he grew up with his siblings, in Genoa, on the land originally settled by his grandparents. John cherished every moment on the family farm so much that he preferred to spend his final days there as well. He attended Lake High School and went on to serve as a military police officer in the National Guard. As a skilled craftsman and carpenter for more than 30 years, John took great pride in working with his hands. So much of his life’s contentment came to him in sharing his craft with his sons, whom he taught and then worked alongside.
John Heldt’s legacy of family and tradition remains in the hearts of all who knew him. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Sharron; children, Aaron (Jamie) Heldt, Sean Heldt, Craig (Susan) Dennis, and Shannon (Tom) Koepfler; granchildren, Auston, Kaden, Corbin, Sydney, Elle, Amelia, Graham, Nolan, Rachael, Austin, Brady; Siblings, Carol (John) Shepard, Karen (Dean Skillman) Mulholland, and Jim (Kathy) Heldt; Nephews, Jason (Alexis) Heldt, Rick Dimling; Niece, Heather Heldt; Great Niece, Loren; and so many other beloved relatives and friends.
Friends and family may visit at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 South Wynn Road, Oregon, Ohio on Monday, January 14, 2013 from 2:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. At the same location, the funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at 10am . Interment will follow at Lake Township Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Odyssey Hospice
