John "Jack" Emch, Sr.

John “Jack” Emch, Sr.

John J. Emch, Sr., 86, of Genoa, Ohio passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Genacross of Toledo.  He was born on January 29, 1932 in Toledo, Ohio to John and Minnie Emch.  Jack was a 1950 graduate of Waite High School and served in the U.S. Army, during the Korean War.

Jack was an operation supervisor for Standard Oil Refinery for 30 years, retiring in 1986.  In his younger years, he worked for the Alyeska Pipeline Service Company where he worked on the startup of the Alaskan Pipeline.

Jack married his wife, Carol on July 9, 1982 and they spent 31 years living in Venice, Florida before recently moving back to Ohio.  He was a member of the American Legion Post #159 in Venice, Florida.  Jack was a huge Cleveland Indians fan.  He will be dearly missed.

Jack is survived by his wife, Carol; children, Cathy (David) DeShetler, John (Lisa) Emch, Jr., Cheryl Leiser, Michael (Terrie) Emch, Douglas (Tonnalee) Emch and Jacqueline Parman; step-children, Todd (Deana) Weirich and Chad (Nicole) Weirich; many grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; sister, Phyllis Sabin and brother-in-law, Harold Sabin.  He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Clarence, Edna, Norman, Bea, Myron, Jim, Ruth, Robert and Barbara.

Friends and family may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd. in Oregon on Thursday, October 11, 2018 from 2-7 p.m. where a funeral service will take place at 7 p.m.  Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
