John W. Byersmith

John William Byersmith, 61, of Curtice, Ohio passed away on Wednesday June 15, 2022.  He was born on September 17, 1960 in Toledo, Ohio to William and Mary (Reno) Byersmith.  John worked as a self-employed HVAC for many years before becoming the grounds specialist for the 577 foundation where he learned his passion for creating pottery until his retirement. He was an avid fisher and hunter and outdoorsman his entire life.  He spent many hours outside cultivating his gardens over the years and watching his plants and flowers grow.

He is survived by his children, Diana Ward and Stephanie Byersmith; his grandchildren, Ashton Ward, Rain Ward, and Eve Ward; and his siblings Susan Gurzynski and Catherine Draper. John was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Julie Byersmith; and brothers, Michael and Mark.

An informal memorial gathering will be held at Magee Marsh Wildlife Area, 13229 State Route 2, Oak Harbor, Ohio, on Saturday, July 16, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. As an avid fisher/hunter and all-around outdoorsman, feel free to bring gear to fish and hike and celebrate John’s love for nature and life. Chance of possible rain so dress for the elements. Arrangements entrusted to Freck Funeral Chapel, Oregon, Ohio.
