John Edward Burtch, 82, left us to be with his Lord on August 14, 2016 following a valiant, extended battle with Alzheimer's.  He was born in Toledo on July 14, 1934 to Howard and Gertrude (Cole) Burtch. John, a kind and gentle man had many interests. He was an avid Detroit Tiger and college sports fan, fisherman, country and western music enthusiast and gardener. Nurturing beautiful summer flowers, or his abundant vegetable garden, while listening to a Tigers game on his favorite transistor radio were a few of his simple pleasures.

John was employed by Owens Illinois for most of his career and was a self-taught engineer holding important positions in the companies solar and bottle labeling divisions. His relentless devotion to doing things the right way transcended across both his professional and personal life. Integrity in everything he did, both personally and professionally was his way of life.

He was a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be missed dearly by his loving family.

Surviving family members include son, John (Jan); daughters, Shelley Shaffer, Tina (Tim) Frank and Pam (Bryan) Csehi; grandchildren, Don and Steve Poulson, Craig Burtch, Chad Frank and Lauren (Jack) Seibert, Bryan, Jr. (Erika), Nate and Megan Csehi;  great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Hunter Poulson, Issac Sevra, Cooper Burtch, and Graham Seibert; brother, George (Linda) Burtch along with many dear nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents; grandson Tyler Frank; son-in-law Donald Shaffer and siblings, Bob, Betty, Grace, Dick and Jim.
