Joanne Frances Shanks

Joanne F. Shanks, age 94, of Oregon, Ohio passed away peacefully on Monday, August 14, 2023 at Ayden Healthcare.  She was born on November 6, 1928 in Toledo, Ohio to Thomas and Florence Lutz.  Joanne was a 1946 graduate of Clay High School where she was on the first group of Majorettes.  She worked as a secretary at Toledo Window Display and later for Toledo Merchants Service.  Joanne also worked as a teller for Toledo Trust.  She was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church.

Joanne is survived by her children, Mike (Kim) Shanks, Karen (Steve) Wojtaluk, Lori (H Comer) Silkwood and Tim (Pam) Shanks; grandchildren, Mickey (Stephanie) Shanks, Andy Shanks, Lesley (Taylor) Jaskolski, Kelly Ingle (Nick Marinski), Katie Ingle (Dave White), Tracy Sherman (Jason Gay), Josh Sherman (Malisa), Sarah (Corey) Robinson, Samantha (Greg) Sattler, Kimberly (Brent) Graham and Greg (Kelly) Shanks as well as 23 great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandson.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George “Bud” Shanks; grandchildren, Steven, Robin, and Wendy; and her sisters, Ruth Reihing, and Mary Ellen Bodette.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Friday, August 18, 2023 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park.  Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Toledo Humane Society.
