Joan E. Terry, 85, of Curtice, Ohio passed away Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. Born in Toledo on September 21, 1927, Joan was the daughter of the late Clarence and Betsy Stracke. She was a graduate of Libbey High School and after graduation she began working for Ohio Citizens. She later worked in the cash office at Sears for ten years.
Joan was a loving wife and mother and an active volunteer, helping deliver meals on wheels and for over 30 years volunteered with St. Charles Mercy Hospital. She was active in the church choirs at Christ United Methodist Church and Coral Baptist in Coral Springs, FL and in her spare time enjoyed playing cards with her friends at their monthly get-togethers.
She is survived by her loving husband, Robert F. Terry; sons, Ron (Diane) Terry and James E. (Laurie) Terry; sisters, Doris (Bill) Trott and Dorothy Mock; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. When Joan lost her son, Bobby, she cried a river of tears. What joy in heaven when they meet again!
Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Sunday, January 6, 2013 from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday, January 7, 2013 from 10-11 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, 5757 Starr Avenue in Oregon where funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Allen Township Cemetery, Williston. Memorial contributions can be made to Christ United Methodist Church or Alzheimer’s Disease Research.
