Jesus A. Cortez, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2014, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He was born February 24, 1948 in San Antonio, TX to Luis and Menchora (Tellez) Cortez and worked as a driver for North American Van Lines for 15 years. He most recently was employed with Boeing as a mechanic and in his spare time loved dancing. He was a huge sports enthusiast attending the Indy 500 every year and supporting the San Antonio Browns Backers, Spurs and OSU teams.
He will be dearly missed by his children, Armando (Marie), Diana (Joe) Kovach, Fred (Kim), Laurie (Cory) Coutchure, Isidro Cortez, Elida Coronado and Jesse (Adrianna) Cortez; grandchildren, Breana, Chase, Jessica Campos, Tiffanie Clemens, Katlynn Kovach, Miranda, Austin, Nicholas, Alexander, Jacob, Marissa, Jade, Anthoni and Marianna; 5 great-grandchildren and siblings, Luis, Jr., Velia, Amelia, Alberto (Jesus’ twin), Irma, Oralia and Lydia. Jesus was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Rogelio and David.
Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 from 2-9 p.m. with the rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. The Funeral Service will begin with prayers in the funeral home at 8:45 a.m. on Thursday followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
