Jerry Paul Gears, age 43 of Toledo passed away Friday, March 9, 2012 at home surrounded by his family. Jerry enjoyed his family very much making sure of an annual vacation and playing golf with his boys. He coached basketball, baseball, and soccer. Jerry was an avid Michigan fan and enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers and Mudhens. Jerry played an active role in cancer research at The University of Michigan. He had a special canine companion, Gibson, who kept him going in the past months.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Marsha; sons, Tyler and Kirk; mother, Frances Gears; siblings, John (Beth) Gears and their daughters, Haley and Erica; Linda Myrice and her sons, Danny, Jordan, and Cody; Janet (Raul) Quiroga and their son Trey; and David Gears. He was preceded in death by his father, John Gears.
Family and friends may visit Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Monday, March 12, 2012 from 3-8 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jerry P. Gears Family Foundation.
