Jeffery Alan Pettit

February 8, 1965 — January 19, 2023

Jeffery Pettit, lifetime resident of Lake Township, twisted the throttle for the last time on January 19, 2023, surrounded by his loving family at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Perrysburg Center.  He wanted everyone to know he was diagnosed with lung cancer a little over a year ago even though he never smoked a day in his life.  Jeff was born on February 8, 1965 in Oregon, Ohio to John and Joanne Pettit.  He was a 1983 graduate of Lake High School/Penta and married his wife, Tena (Hathaway) Pettit on June 25, 1988 in Bowling Green, Ohio.  Jeff was the owner and operator of Artistic Memorials, which he started February 12, 2002.  His shop was awarded the Prism award for small businesses in 2022. Jeff was very proud to become a certified memorialist, one of only 110 members in the United States.

Jeff loved to support and donate to his community.  He served as a Lake Township Trustee for eight years, some of which were as a Chairman, overseeing many township improvement projects.  Jeff was very involved with the Wreaths Across America, Meals on Wheels in Perrysburg as well as coaching boy’s and girl’s rec soccer, ESSL boys’ soccer, girls’ softball and t-ball teams over the years.

Jeff loved to travel, his favorite place to visit was Hawaii.  He always talked about retiring there one day.  Jeff looked forward to kayaking or canoeing every summer with his daughter, looking for a different traveling adventure.  He also enjoyed his weekly lunches with his son and daughter.

Jeff was an avid motorcycle rider who enjoyed taking trips with his wife and brothers.  He was a member of the Goldwing Road Riders Association and the Indian Motorcycle Club.  He earned several top mileage awards with the Goldwing Chapter S and completed three iron butt trips, one while he had cancer. He also was awarded individual of the year in 2020.

Jeff had a positive attitude on life.  He would wake up at 5:00 a.m. daily to workout before work.  He was a proud blood donor giving eight gallons of blood over the years.  He will be dearly missed by his family and dog, Tootsie.

Jeff is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Tena Pettit; daughter, Ashley (Austin Woods) Pettit; son, Joshua (Jennifer) Pettit; brother Karl (Heather) Pettit; sister, Judy (Tim) Schorling; 2nd mom his aunt, Ginger Lehmann; sisters-in-law, Lynne Pettit and Rebecca (Ray) Baughman, many nieces, nephews, and his dog, Tootsie.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Ken Pettit.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Monday, January 23, 2023 from 2-8:00 p.m.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Mainstreet Church 5465 Moline-Martin Rd. Walbridge, OH where family will greet guests after 10:00 a.m.  Burial will follow at Lake Township Cemetery.  Memorial contributions can be made to Wreaths Across America, American Lung Association and Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
