Jeanette "Jean" LaPorte

October 4, 1933 — October 12, 2024

Jeanette "Jean" LaPorte (née Oravec), born on October 4, 1933, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2024, at the age of 91. Jean was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who touched the lives of many with her warmth and kindness throughout the years. Jean was happily married for 68 wonderful years to her loving husband, Thomas "Dick" LaPorte, who preceded her in death on July 7, 2019. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Jean retired as a bookkeeper for FoodTown, where she was known for her meticulous attention to detail. Her passion for organization extended into her home, where everything had its perfectly assigned purpose and place. Jean was an avid reader (thousands of books!), traveler, pianist, gardener, and an incredible cook, always ensuring that no one left her home hungry. Her house was a testament to her love for the seasons and holidays, always beautifully curated to reflect the time of year. Jean and Dick shared a love for car shows, enjoying many together over the years. Her life was a tapestry of love, family, and joy, woven together with the threads of her many interests and passions. Jean will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Jean is survived by her children, Bruce (Anna) LaPorte, David (Anita) LaPorte and Vickie (Steven) Vincent; grandchildren, Dr. Alaina Vincent, John, Jason (Lorin); and her adored great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no services. Jean will be laid to rest alongside the love of her life in St. Ignatius Cemetery. In lieu of a service, the family kindly requests donations be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society or St. Judes.
