Janet E. Tomesek

Janet E. Tomesek, 89, of Oregon, Ohio went home peacefully on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at Orchard Villa under Hospice Care. She was born December 31, 1932 in Toledo, Ohio to George Earl and Mabel Blackstock. Following graduating Scott High School in 1950, Janet worked 11 years in various office positions and later becoming a stay-at-home mother and raising her family. In 1959, she married her forever sweetheart, Joseph Tomesek of Toledo, Ohio, the father of her three daughters, Sharon, Joan and Evelyn.

Janet was a long-time member/volunteer of Christ Dunberger Post 537, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, serving as a past poppy chairwoman. She also enjoyed volunteering many years at the Toledo Veterans Affairs Clinic with her dear ladies group. Janet loved traveling, casino visits, helping and visiting her daughters and their families as they relocated in multiple states during her later years. She was especially fond of caring for her four grandsons and watching them grow up successfully making her proud. Janet was a kind, gentle woman who loved her family, friends, birds, animals and had quite a green thumb in her prime years. She will be dearly missed forever by us all!

She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Joseph, brothers Joseph, Robert and Donald, sisters Margaret and Kathleen. She is survived by her daughter Sharon Schlessman, Joan (Tim) Marriott, and Evelyn Tomesek; nephew Joseph (Joyce) Moran, grandchildren Matthew Schlessman and David (Olivia Blackwell) Schlessman, Cody (Aubrey Milligan) Comstock and Ean (Abigail Scicere) Comstock.

Private services will be held. Burial will be at Toledo Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to the Toledo Humane Society.
