Janet Sue Hardy

Janet Sue Hardy age 77 passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Parkcliffe Community at Northwood. Janet was born to Raymond and Marie (Tooman) Hansen on June 19, 1947 in Toledo, Ohio. She was a proud graduate of Macomber Whitney High School. Janet worked at Libbey Glass first as a selector moving up to foreman until her retirement in 2002. As a single mother, Janet was stern and loving instilling good morals and great work ethic in all four of her children. Janet’s children shared that she made sure they wanted for nothing and were so blessed to have such a strong, self-sufficient role model. She loved to sew, needlepoint, watch the gameshow network, complete crosswords, and she was an excellent cook. Janet was the kind of lady who loved hosting family gatherings and meeting and talking to people. Most of all she loved her children and grandbabies.

Janet is survived by her children Dawn (Marty) Horvath, Chris (Heather) Marsh, and Melvin (Donna) Hardy; son-in-law Mark Simmons; grandchildren Lauren (Zach), Hunter, Layne, Taylor, Olivia, Elizjah, Evan, Gray, Adrian, and Aubrey; great-grandchildren Jackson, Noelle, and Wesley; sister Joanne (Scott) Howe and brother Tom (Colleen) Hansen. She was preceded in death by her daughter Julie Simmons, parents, and brother Henry Hansen and sister Bernie McNutt.

A visitation will be held at Freck Funeral Chapel 1155 S Wynn Rd in Oregon, Ohio on Friday, June 28, 2024 from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 12:30 p.m. Entombment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorial contributions are appreciated to the Genoa Scholarship Foundation in Julie Simmon’s Name. The family wishes to thank everyone at Northwood Parkcliffe Community Building 2 for all the love and care they gave Janet.
