James M. Zahradnik

James M. Zahradnik, age 78, of Northwood, Ohio passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at his home surrounded by family.  He was born on June 10, 1946 in Toledo, Ohio to Francis and Nancy (Barnes) Zahradnik.  Jim was a 1964 graduate of Bowsher High School.  Jim married Lyn Pollex on October 7, 1967 and they were married for 55 years before her passing in 2023.  He began his career with Ohio Citizens Bank where he worked for 13 years.  Jim then worked for Pinkerton Security and eventually retired from Lucas County Children’s Services.  In his spare time, Jim enjoyed bowling, playing Pinochle, darts, shooting pool, and fishing.  He was an avid reader and also enjoyed taking walks. The best days were spent with his family.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

James is survived by his children, Julia (Jon Nissen) Zahradnik, Pandora (Charles) Bohnsack, and Jeffery (Sara) Zahradnik; grandchildren, Zachary, Nicholas, Tyler, Sam, Zoi, and Jonathan; great-granddaughter, Zariah; sister, Laurie (Bob) Gorzelski; niece and nephews, Mike, Tony, and Jessica; stepmother-in-law, Donna Myers Pollex Najarian; and special friends, Dick, Randy, Penny, and Jeannie.  James was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Lyn and siblings, Frank, Anne, and Allen Zahradnik.

A memorial gathering will be held at Freck Funeral Chapel on Friday, October 4, 2024 from 4:00-6:30 p.m. where a memorial service will follow at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Isaiah 117 House.
