JAMES W. STIGER

While wrapped in the loving arms of his family, James Wesley Stiger, 62, passed away at Mercy St. Vincent’s Medical Center on Thursday April 11th. Jim was born August 21, 1950 in Bucyrus, Ohio to Harry and Irene (Cotner) Stiger.

Big Jim, as he was known to his many friends, was a 1970 graduate of Genoa High School.  Jim served in the US Army in Viet Nam.  He worked for many years as a welder/millwright.  He did stints at AP Parts, Toledo Shipyards, Brush Wellman, Jeep, and several other facilities throughout Ohio. Jim was a member of VFW post 2984, American Legion, and Local 1393 Millwrights and Piledrivers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Chris, and daughter Kristy Jones. Jim is survived by daughter, Tina (Mike) Tate; son, Jimmy Lee; siblings, Larry (Faith) Stiger, Joanie (Steve) Goyings, Patty (Wayne) Bucher, and Terry (Joanne) Stiger; nieces and nephews; several grandchildren; and countless friends from local establishments, especially his dear friends at J & D’s. Jim also leaves to cherish his memory, special friend, Barb Belville and her children, Kristi and Marvin and their families.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held Sunday, April 14th at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd, Oregon from 11:00 – 4:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service beginning at 4:00 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution to the Wounded Warrior Project.
