James J. Pinney, 79, of Walbridge, Ohio passed away peacefully on Monday, January 20, 2014 at Mercy St. Charles Hospital. He was born on April 17, 1934 in Toledo, Ohio to Casimier and Clara Piniazkiewicz. Jim was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving aboard the U.S.S. Rowan, during the Korean War. He married Mary Ann Pietrykowski on January 30, 1954. Jim was a licensed optician for 45 years working for various optical shops and retired in 1996. He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary Ann Pinney; daughter, Pamela (Steve) Mawhorter; grandsons, William (Heather) Mawhorter and Timothy Mawhorter and great-grandchildren, Megan and Andrew. James was preceded in death by our son, Kevin, his parents and sisters, Barbara Bowsher and Diane Coutcher.
Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Thursday, January 23, 2014 from 2- 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Lake Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
