James Huss

James J. Huss age 83 of Curtice passed away Tuesday, February 11, 202,5 at the Gardens of St. Francis. He was born December 12, 1941, to Clair and Vera (Rumbaugh) Huss. James was a 1959 graduate of Clay High School and went on to marry Carol Jean (Frey) on December 23, 1961 she preceded him in death in 1993. James worked for 27 years for ADT then 14 years at Chrysler Toledo. His real passion was fire service he served 18 years at Station 2 in Northwood and retired as the Volunteer Fire Chief of Northwood in 1992. James married his second wife, Mary Lou (Gasche) on November 8, 1996.

James is survived by his wife Mary Lou; children Kerri (Mark) Labuhn, Kevin Huss, and Kelly (Slade) Allison; stepchildren CJ (Annette) Apel and Amy (Rocky) Steffen; grandchildren Danielle (Tyler) Boris, Jonathan (Katy) Labuhn, Laney Dunton, Lawson Dunton, Harli Allison, and Carlee Huss; step-grandchildren Robbie VanHousen, Brandon VanHousen, and Erin Apel; great-grandchildren Cade and Cara Boris, Halston Green, Oliver, Loretta, RaeLynn, Mikah, Colt, Fraya, Brynlee, Kohen and a couple more on the way; siblings Clair Huss, Janet Zunk, and Jake Huss and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Carol Jean, parents Clair and Vera, and brother William Huss.

A visitation will be held at Freck Funeral Chapel 1155 S Wynn Rd. in Oregon on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 10 to 12 noon A funeral service with Firefighter Honors will be held at noon. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions are appreciated to the Northwood Fire Department or Elara Caring Hospice.
