Jacob Jeffrey Apling

Jacob (Jake) Jeffrey Apling, 40, of Oak Harbor passed away 4/26/2024 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Cleveland Clinic Cancer Center was with Jake every step of the way. Jake was born 3/25/1984 to Barbara Apling (surviving) and Jeff (Sue) Apling (surviving).  Jake was preceded in death by his grandparents and Jake's furry companion “Bear”.

Jake leaves behind the love of his life, Amanda (who he married 8/15/2020), and 2 children, Brooklyn and Karson. His survivors also include immediate and blended family members and feline companion “BUG”.

Jake was a kind, loving man with a gentle soul who worked hard. He was a handyman and a perfectionist in all he did. From making wooden swings,  his shed, chicken coop, and camping grill.  He took pride in all his accomplishments.

Jake enjoyed camping, playing dice games, raising the family chickens, and fishing.

Jake will be missed by all who knew him.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155  S Wynn Rd Oregon Ohio Thursday  5/2   from 3-8 pm. Funeral services will be Friday 5/3 starting at 10:30 am. Followed by a funeral procession to his final resting place, Locust Point Cemetary Duff-Washa Rd Oak Harbor. Fellowship after the burial will be held at Carroll Township Hall 11080 W Toussaint East Rd Oak Harbor.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to his wife and children.

Thank you to all who helped these past few months to keep Jake's household functioning during these stressful times.

Special thanks to Jake's workplace Northern Mfg, where Jake worked as a welder for many years.  They were so gracious to Jake during his extended sick leave.

Also appreciated is Amanda's workplace, Logistiq, who were understanding daily with emotional and cooperative support as she tended to Jake.
