Jack D. Heider, 80, of Northwood, passed away on Tuesday after a long illness. He was born in Toledo to the late Elmer and Kathryn (Chisholm) Heider on July 19, 1931. Jack graduated from Waite High School in 1949, and went on to receive his degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Toledo. He married his wife of 49 years, Patricia K. (Eding) Heider on August 11, 1962.
Jack was employed as a Registered Professional Engineer at Surface Combustion, Tillman Unitech, and continued to work up until his illness at Willard and Kelsey Solar Group in Perrysburg. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and restoring his classic cars. He was a longtime member of Forks Conservation Club, and Placers Car Club.
He is survived by his wife Patricia and daughter Jennifer. He is also survived by his siblings: James (Ruth) Heider, Joyce Schafer, Carol (John) Wilson, Robert Heider, Ronald (Peggy) Heider, and many neices and nephews.
The family would also like to thank all the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff who cared for Jack in the past few months.
Friends may visit Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd. in Oregon, on Friday, September 9, 2011 from 2 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Saturday, September 10th at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Lake Township Cemetery. In leiu of flowers, the family asks for memorials in his name be made to the Toledo Area Humane Society.
