JACK  H. FERREE

Jack H. Ferree, 90, of Walbridge, Ohio, passed away Monday, August 4, 2014, at his home. He was born in Piqua, Ohio on April 23, 1924 to Alva and Emeline (Ash) Ferree and served our country during WWII in the U.S. Air Corps receiving Four Bronze Stars and the Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters. Jack was a graduate of the University of Toledo, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering. For over 30 years, Jack worked for Sun Oil Refinery as an instrument Technician, retiring in 1980. He helped organize the O.C.A.W. where he served as Past President for 8 years and helped build First Church of the Nazarene on Starr Ave which is now Hope Community Church. In his spare time, Jack enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting. Jack and Betty moved to Florida where they lived for 30 years and in 2011 moved back to Ohio to be closer to family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Betty Ferree; son, Michael (Gloria) Ferree and daughter, Norene (Ed) Mikels; 7 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his son, Thomas E. Ferree; parents; brothers, Alva, Jr., James, Glenn and Howard and sister, Patsy Ellsworth.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, August 6, 2014, from 2-8 p.m.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday in the funeral home at 11 a.m.   Burial will follow at Lake Township Cemetery.
