Jack C. Eff, 71, of Toledo, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo. He was born in Toledo on February 22, 1945 to Norman and Phyllis (Schutt) Eff and was a 1964 graduate of Waite High School. Jack honorably served our country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam with the A Company, 436th Combat Engineers and then with the Army Reserves. He worked as a foundry worker for Doehler-Jarvis and in 1972 began his career as a mechanic with the City of Toledo – Department of Fleet Operations. Jack retired as Mechanic Supervisor for the Fire Department in 2002.

He was a faithful member of Eastminster United Presbyterian Church where he also worked as Janitor. He loved caring for the church and was affectionately known as a “Professional Putterer” and “Mr. Fix-it” by his family. He had a unique organizational style and loved to help others. He was a Master Mason with the Paragon Lodge No. 788 F. & A.M.

He is survived by his daughter, Kristen (Martin) Chagolla; son, Jeffery (Michelle) Eff; grandchildren, Emilio (Danielle) Chagolla, Justin Eff (Rebecca Bandsuch), Jerad Eff (Halie Kinor) and Elizabeth Chagolla; great-grandchildren, Alannah, Colton, James and Bentley; siblings, David (June) Eff, Sandy (Richard) Danko, Linda Severson, Cindy Zuccarell (John Meilink), Tim Eff and Joe Long; sisters-in-law, Toni Eff and Janie Jacob; and many nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Eff; brother, SGM Richard H. Eff and in-laws, Bob and Freda Trenchik, Virgil and Helen Miller and Al Jacob.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions can be made to the Eastminster United Presbyterian Building Fund. The family wishes to thank special friend and caregiver, Deb and the staff at Hospice especially Melissa for their compassionate care shown to Jack.
