Jack J. Bohland, 77, passed away peacefully at Hospice of Northwest Ohio on Monday, September 16, 2013. A veteran, Jack was in the Army and was stationed in Alaska for two years. He was later employed with A & P for 4 years and then for Libbey Owens Ford (LOF) for 36 years before retiring. Jack married the love of his life, Sandy, in 1959 and they were inseparable throughout their 54 years of marriage. Whether he was taking one of his walks, gardening at St. Paul's Episcopal Church where he was an active parishioner, or working on his next project, Jack was a hardworking, devoted man. He will always be remembered for his quiet, but caring personality and his infectious smile.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Bohland and Hattie “Pat” Hinkle. He is survived by his wife, Sandra; children, Jack T. (Cindy), James (Debbie), and Beth (Scott) Carpenter; siblings, Carol Furry, Russell Bohland and Susan O'Kenka; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and 1 more on the way; 2 foster grandchildren; and special family friends Margaret and Gabriel Arthur and their 4 children. The family would like to give a special thank you to Hospice of Northwest Ohio for all they have done throughout this difficult time.
Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S Wynn Rd., Oregon, from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2013. Visitation will continue on Friday after 9:30 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 798 S. Coy Road in Oregon where the funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio or St. Paul’s Episcopal Church’s Landscaping Fund.
