Irene Shaner, 85, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away on Monday, September 7, 2015 at Arbors at Oregon. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on July 7, 1930 to Charles and Mary (Kurtolick) Kovacs. She worked at Raceway Park for over 20 years and enjoyed bowling, singing, playing cards and dancing.
Irene is survived by her children, Karen (Curtis) Bass and Herman Alfred Shaner, Jr.; grandsons, Michael and Donald Alexander, Jr.; 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; sister, Mary Jane (Nandor) Toth along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman Alfred Shaner, Sr.; son, Steven Charles Shaner; sister, Betty Gall and brother, Elmer Kovacs.
Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon after 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2015 with the Funeral Service to begin at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
