Irene Pearl Dusza-Fahsholtz

August 9, 1927 — November 20, 2024

Irene Dusza Fahsholtz, 97, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024 after a brief illness at Hospice of Northwest Ohio – Perrysburg. She was a resident of Oregon, Ohio. Irene was born at the family home, in her beloved Birmingham neighborhood, the middle child of Julia and Emery Kaduk on August 9, 1927.

Irene was a 1946 graduate of Waite High School. In her youth, Irene loved to play marbles with her Birmingham friends and relished in beating many of the boys she played against. She spoke fluent Hungarian and English. Using her language skills, she served as the church secretary at Calvin United Church of Christ (formerly the Hungarian Reformed Church) in East Toledo’s Birmingham neighborhood from 1963-1986. Irene was an excellent cook, often making Hungarian dishes and holiday family favorites. She married her husband Ray Fahsholtz in 1972. They enjoyed many activities together, from traveling, baking Hungarian pastries, attending area festivals, watching Joe and Ron’s softball games, as well as attending many of the grandchildren’s school programs and sports events. After Ray’s passing in December of 1990, she spent winters with her sister Julia in Arizona. Irene loved to work word puzzles, playing SkipBo, watching Price is Right, socializing with her many church friends and most of all – spending time with her family.

Irene is survived by her son Ron (Jacki) Dusza, and daughter Kathy Kerekes (Joe Primer); grandchildren Michele (Bryan) Dusza-Kish, Tracy (Dean) Bober, Rob (Susan) Kerekes, Matt (Amanda) Kerekes, Courtney Williams, Kelly (Fahsholtz) Jolly and Craig (Helen) Fahsholtz; 11 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; special niece Paula (Michael) Berry and family of Arizona and special friend Donna Cook.
