Howard J. Wagoner

September 5, 1940 — March 3, 2022

Howard J. Wagoner, 81, of Oregon, Ohio passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Mercy Health-St Charles Hospital.  He was born on September 5, 1940 in Walbridge, Ohio to Clyde and Flossie Wagoner.  Howard began working at a young age, as early as 7 years old.  He worked alongside his dad and uncles at the family business, learning many of the skills and trades.  Those skills were passed onto several generations still to this day.  Howard worked in the warehouse at L.O.F. as a forklift operator for over 36 years.  He also worked on his family farm and frequently helped as a mechanic and loader at Nissen Concrete and was a volunteer fireman for the Jerusalem Twp. Fire Department.

Howard loved to tinker and invent things.  He was often found riding around the farm with his dogs in his doodle bug or on his golf cart.  In his spare time, Howard enjoyed working on model trains, antique tractors, watching Mollie B Polka Party and horses.  But most of all he loved spending time with his grandkids.  He will be missed at the family reunions, especially for his hobo stew.

Howard is survived by his children, Kenneth (Carrie) Wagoner, William Wagoner and Jennifer (Mark) Payeff; grandchildren, William Jr., Mychael (Katie), Nick (Lauren), Sierra, Meghan and Jessica; great-grandchildren, Pheobe, Bo, Levi and Deacon; sisters, Maxine Schulte, Carolyn Stepnick and older twin sister, Hazel (Chuck) Kepus; and his sisters-in-law, Barb and Charlene Wagoner.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judith; and brothers, Lowell Wagoner, and Charlie Wagoner.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Monday, March 7, 2022, from 10:00-12:00 p.m. where services will be held at 12:00 p.m.  Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Jerusalem Township Fire Department.
