Helen T. Singlar, 85, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 25, 2024. She was born on July 9, 1939, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Andrew and Mary (Kiss) Rakay. Helen’s life was defined by her deep love for family, her unwavering faith, and her cherished traditions.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 57 years, Richard; her beloved daughter, Christine Sanchez; her brothers, Andrew and John; and her sisters, Gisella and Agnes Rakay. Helen is survived by her children, Kathy, Rick (Wendy), and Brian (Robyn); her grandchildren, Greg (Erin), Lindsey (Kyle) Nutter, Nathan (Megan), and Nicholas (Andrea-fiancé); her great-grandchildren, Madison and Carson; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and many lifelong friends who will deeply miss her presence.
A lifelong member of St. Stephen Church, Helen was active in the Rosary Altar Society. She graduated from Central Catholic High School and dedicated many years to serving in the office at St. Stephen School, where she touched countless lives with her kindness, dedication, and heartfelt generosity. Sundays were particularly meaningful to Helen, spent in devotion to her Catholic faith, starting with Mass in the morning and followed by delicious home-cooked meals, celebrating her proud Hungarian heritage and family traditions. Her grandchildren will forever cherish the joyful memories created in her home, where they were surrounded by her love, warmth, and laughter. Helen’s greatest joy came from being a devoted mother and grandmother, serving as the cornerstone of her family. Her life was a testament to the enduring value of faith, family, and tradition, creating lasting moments of love and togetherness for her family.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions to Epiphany of the Lord (St. Stephen) Church.
Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 2, 2024, followed by the Rite of Christian Burial at noon at Epiphany of Our Lord (St. Stephen Church), located at 1880 Genesee St., Toledo, OH 43605. Burial will take place at St. Ignatius Cemetery.
